It's been almost a month.

Well. Here I am...in New York. Who would have thought? I've been here for almost a month also...October 3 will be one month exactly. Crazy! Here's a quick update on the past month.

I flew out here on September 3 while Mom and Grandma drove all of my belongings up. New York's roads are extremely crazy with all of their one ways, streets changing names, and of course the drivers. Thank goodness for GPS or Mom and Grandma could still be driving around looking for my apartment! So, they arrived and it was dark, late, and everyone was tired. So, we unloaded and Mom and Grandma took an adventure to try to find a hotel...eventually they found one. Patrick and I unloaded all of my stuff that evening, so the next day all we had to do was get me a bed. We found a mattress place really fast and they could deliver it for free the next day. nice. So, Mom, Grandma, and I headed out for the day. We decided to go to the Statue of Liberty. I took Mom and Grandma on their first subway ride. Of course the subway station we were using was a busy one with connections to about 6 trains, so it seemed crazy to them, which it kind of was. Anyway, we got to Battery Park, but decided not to take the Ferry over and just look at the Statue of Liberty from the pier. It was an extremely hot day, so we sat down for a little bit and headed back to the hotel to rest. Next, we hopped back onto the subway and got off at 42nd Street to go through Times Square. Mom and Grandma were amazed at how massive it was, the people, the buildings, the hustle and bustle. It was really cool. We wanted to see a Broadway show, so we opted for Gypsy starring Patti LuPone. (Great choice because it's a Sondheim classic and has Broadway veteran LuPone who has a zillion Tony's, including one for her performance in Gypsy.) We grabbed some ice cream and then went into the show. WOW. Could we have picked a better show for their first Broadway show? I don't think so. Simply amazing. All three of us were blown away. We headed back to the hotel and Mom and Grandma headed out the next day. Love them so much and owe them so much for dealing with the traffic in NYC and driving 10 hours to bring my stuff here. :)

Now began the job search. I walked around Manhattan for about three days with my resume and picking up and dropping off applications. Nothing. One morning I woke up and thought to try Macy's on 34th Street on a whim. After a 6 hour application and interview process, I got the job. I began working selling Men's Lacoste clothing. My hourly rate is not the best, but everything I sell is commission based. So pretty much, I just need to make sure I'm on top of my game so that I can make a good paycheck for myself. I hated it at first, but it's starting to grow on me now. It's not that bad, and it's a job. The people I work with are all pretty cool, also, which definitely helps.

So, I'm finally situated in my apartment. Getting situated in my job. Time to begin classes. Monday was the start of class. I arrived to Studio 5 and met my 7 other classmates. I instantly knew this was going to be something amazing. The creative energy in the room was just shocking and once we began working, I wasn't proved wrong on my first instincts. The week moved on with a lot of movement exercises to get into the body and release unnecessary tensions. The feeling when you discover something new about yourself is an awakening moment and really awesome to have. The week went really well.

Unfortunately, Thursday I began feeling sick, so I've been popping medicine to feel better, rested all day Friday, have been drinking orange juice and water like it's my job, and today I feel a little better. yay! Today, Patrick (my roommate) and I are going to go shopping at Macy's. haha. They have a lot of great sales and I have a special employee discount on top of my employee discount if I go this weekend. So, I'm buying clothes that I need. :)

That's about it. OH! My first celeb sighting: Yesterday while at work, a co-worker pointed out the man from Jamaica that won the Olympic gold for track. He was shopping at Macy's in the Lucky and Ed Hardy brand sections which is near Lacoste. It was pretty cool. I'll keep you posted on more celeb sightings as they happen also. :)
